25 Oct Support Scott Krahling for next county clerk

The following appeared in the August 21, 2016 Las Cruces Sun News Letters to the Editor:

Scott Krahling is the right person to be our next Doña Ana County clerk because we need fair elections for all voters, and that requires experience.

I have known Krahling for about eight years. I was his constituent while he was a county commissioner and I was impressed with his willingness to set aside his personal interests for the good of our community. When he took over as the chief deputy clerk, I was the probate judge working in the Clerk’s Office, so I’ve seen firsthand how hard he works to improve the office to serve all of the people in our community better. This year I worked as a poll challenger during the primary election, and I can say that Scott’s team is highly trained and professional.

Scott and I share a passion to increase access to voting so that everyone in Doña Ana County that’s eligible to vote is able to vote. His outreach efforts across the county were successful, resulting in over 400 new people registering to vote. Under his leadership, the Clerk’s Office also registered over 300 people while visiting all local high schools. Plus, every election he’s managed, and that I’ve participated in, has run smoothly, with trusted results.

As his constituent and a voter, I know that Krahling has the people’s best interests at heart. Serving Doña Ana County since 2008, he is the most qualified person for the job and I strongly support him as our next county clerk.

Krahling is a proven leader and has demonstrated his integrity, vision and experience. In November, I’m voting for Scott Krahling as our next county clerk. I know and trust that he will continue to serve the people of Doña Ana County well.

Alice M. Salcido,

Las Cruces
